I have already written my blog post for Memorial Day.
However, learning and studying the History of America, is near and dear to my heart. History is something that was boring to me in High School and College. I never really appreciated the study of American History until I was older and had children.
My husband teaches high school history and there is so much eliminated from the history text books. So once a week, I am going to post some of my favorite quotes from our Founding Fathers and those who understand Liberty and Freedom. If you like the quote, take a peak at the date it was said. That is amazing to me that our Founding Fathers could look down the corridors of time and give us warnings for our future.
Those who don't remember the past are doomed to repeat it. George Santayana, Spanish Author
Famous Quotes
"But you must remember, my fellow-citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing. It behooves you, therefore, to be watchful in your States as well as in the Federal Government." -- Andrew Jackson, Farewell Address, March 4, 1837

"Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people." -- John Adams
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. ... God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion; what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms." -- Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, 1787
"The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history, whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite." -- Thomas Jefferson

"It is not the function of our government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error." -- U.S. Supreme Court in American Communications Association v. Douds

"To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father's has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association--the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it." -- Thomas Jefferson: Note in Tracy's "Political Economy," 1816.
"Whoever claims the right to redistribute the wealth produced by others is claiming the right to treat human beings as chattel." -- Ayn Rand
