Does your neighborhood allow fences?
This was a question I asked 24 Realtors this past week in Ann Arbor.
We had a buyer in town from California, she needs a fence as she wants to continue to do day-care in her home to suppliment her husbands salary while he is in his Medical Residency.
So guess how many Realtors could answer that question when I called?
If you guess 0 ZERO you are right.
Some of them got back to me and I showed their listing, one drove around the neighborhood and "looked". "I don't see any fences, so no, no fences".
What say you?
If you are a listing agent do you asked your sellers at the listing appointment if their neighborhood can have fences?
Do you ask for the Homeowner Assocation Documents to have on hand to look that up?
In all honestly I was shocked that not one Realtor knew the answer. Seemed like a simple question to me, but who knows maybe that is going too far.
Most of the subdivisions in Ann Arbor built in and after the 1990's do not allow them. Some do with special permission from the Association Board.
