My son, Matthew is boarding the Dwight D. Eisenhower tonight at 8:00.
Mom, is feeling a little blue. I know others have gone through this, I'm not the only one.
But, to say it is not hard would just not be true.
Mike and I flew to Norfolk last weekend and spent the weekend with Matt and Shelley, his fiance. We had a great time and stayed out on Va Beach. My husband who builds model of V18 Fighter planes was in heaven as he got to actually sit in one.
While we were there, we got to board the ship and I was amazed at how huge it was. Well, all except the birth, where they sleep. Their are three beds stacked on top of each other and the mattress lifts up and that is where they keep all their clothes. Plus a locker smaller than your kids have in high school.
Matt will be working on the flight deck and with the pilots. Matt left home when he was 19 and moved to Nashville to pursue a career in County Music so it's not that he hasn't been gone, but we text and call everyday so that will not be happening for 6 months.
Ok enough whinning...
I created this show on my Mac and added a song Matthew wrote for me one Christmas, Dear Mom.
I then had to submit to YouTube to get the embed code. If anyone using a Mac knows how to embed them on blogs without going the YouTube route I'm all ears. Anyway it much better in IPhoto Shows.
Ok enjoy the music, it is really appropriate for any mom whose son is serving in the U.S. Military.
