We had an interesting discussion last week at our weekly Keller Williams Ann Arbor meeting.
It was on Twitter.
The typical comments came in: What is Twitter? I don't get it? blah, blah, blah...
The comment that most interested me was What is a Re-Tweet?
Many found it really hard to get their heads around it. Finally someone said "oh, it is like a forward". Then a light bulb went off and agents understood it.
Twitter Language
Twitter Speak is a language, the more time to spend there, the better you understand it.Sorta like moving to a foreign country.
A hash tag is really a # pound sign.
So why don't we say, use the pound sign to follow a event or discussion?
Why don't we say forward, instead of Re-Tweet?
It took me forever and I am still adding to it, but setting up lists on Twitter has made it easier to stay in the conversation, meet local people. I'll say that ONE more time, MEET LOCAL PEOPLE.
Re-Tweeting?
Re-Tweeting, or forwarding a tweet you heard expands your Reach on Twitter and like a thumbs up on Facebook (LIKE) Social Media in my opinion, is all about expanding your Reach and your Relationships in the Digital Age. So one way to expand what you have to say, is to Re-Tweet others, engage them and ultimately have a Relationship.
If you want to find out how far your Twitter Reach is out there, there is a nifty little tool, called TweetReach.com.
Thanks to Leslie Lambert on Agent Genius for posting on this little tool, as it fit in perfectly with our Team Meeting discussion last week.

I have NO idea if this is good or bad, or mediocre. But, it was fun to have my tweets analygized to see how far they actually go. Folks, for someone like me that is not on Twitter very much that is a lot of people to reach. I use Twitter a lot during Michigan Football games, and Saturday, Denard Robinson, our fantastic Quarter-Back was trending even though he only got to play some of the First Quarter.

Try out the little Twitter Reach and feel fee to share you stat's in the comments.
